My Favorite Things from 2020 Products and Brands

I spent a great deal of time perusing Instagram in 2020, and a great deal looking at and reacting to ads than I care to admit. As embarrassing as it seems to me, I must admit that I have happened upon some truly life-changing products on Instagram. It’s a testament to the power of social media and the process of hunting and gathering when you can’t get into a brick and mortar store.

  1. Curious Elixirs. In October I hit a wall personally. I made a decision to curb my alcohol consumption in preparation for a retreat and I came upon Curious Elixirs during Sober October. Sober October was news to me, and I didn’t intend to be completely alcohol free during the month of October, but by default, I nearly was. Curious Elixirs are alcohol free pre-mixed cocktails (mocktails) with adaptogens. The adaptogens are relaxing, so when you consume one of the Elixirs, you realize all is good and well in the Universe after all. As they say, shaken, not slurred. These are a must for anyone who wants to take a break, cut back or completely quit drinking alcohol, and I highly recommend having these on hand for any party so you have something interesting for the NA crowd!

  2. Hairstory. It took over a month for my order to arrive, mainly due to the horrible USPS system especially in my rural mountain town. But the wait was worth it. I have never had such soft, silky and clean feeling hair in my life. I spend too much money on hair products, and now it seems I have 1 product I need, the rest is history. The premise is simple- it’s a shampoo and conditioner in one that’s safer for the planet’s water and your body. They also give 1% of profits to 1% for the Planet.

  3. Grove. A B-Corp that provides sustainable home cleaning supplies. I love the use of bamboo and the oversized refillable pouches for hand soap and dish soap. Do away with large plastic bottles once and for all. Some of my favorite items include wool dryer balls and the coconut scrubber. The coconut scrubber is actually my #1 favorite product of this year. I can tackle pots and pans effortlessly and everything shines more than it did brand new. Grove is a subscription service, so you need to stay on top of your orders. You can delay them for as long as you like and set intervals for each item separately.

  4. All Natural Pet. When my husband and I moved to a small mountain town, we needed to find a resource for our cat food. I googled “not amazon natural pet food” and came upon our old store from Boulder, CO, All Natural Pet. They carry all the good brands and shipping is free. Pricing is fair and they have the best cat nip. Items ship swiftly and they have absolutely bar non the best customer service. Thank goodness I don’t have to shop at Petco or order from Amazon. I love supporting small businesses, especially if they’re B-Corps!
