When I was young, I studied yoga from a book and that is where I learned about the concept of Dharma, your life’s purpose. I have spent the last 20+ years embodying my Dharma in different ways, learning, growing and transforming on the deepest levels. I have lived many iterations of my Dharma and I am ever exploring and following the flow in my own Dharma Adventure. I won’t say it’s been easy, but I will say I am living a fulfilled, fully adventurous life and I wouldn’t change a thing! Life Hacks and Habits You Need Now and a World Champion’s Way Whose habits are you trying to integrate into your life? What are the life hacks you’re trying to make work for you, but they don’t seem to return the dividends you were promised? This past weekend in Les Gets, France, the Mountain Bike World Championships went off in spectacular fashion, and a predictable winner walked away from the women’s cross country race: Frenchwoman Pauline Ferrand-Prevot (PFP). She has a very particular way she prepares for World Championships and she’s been quite successful, she’s won Worlds 4 times now.  World Championships in Mountain Biking are a one-off event, not a series like most sports, just one chance to make the finish line first and earn the honor of the UCI rainbow stripes jersey for the entirety of the following season. I had an idea that Pauline Ferrand-Prevot would win again. Her hack is to take a long break from racing and travel in order to peak and prepare for the one-day race. She skipped the North American races in the World Cup Circuit to focus on Worlds, and she, of all people, could pull off the win with this strategy.  Yet she wasn’t the only racer to employ this tactic this year. Other women copied her hack. It doesn’t seem to work for everyone else in the same way it works for PFP.  So what does this have to do with you? And habits? And life hacks? Like most humans, we’re looking for that edge, and we often look to other successful people to integrate their hacks and habits in hopes of finding our own magic bullet to success. Let’s be honest, how many articles about life hacks and habits have you clicked on? The problem with this is that we each have a unique blueprint. LA Life. Just over an hour from downtown LA the evidence of the city smiles and waves. Graffiti is a way for people to be seen and to be heard and while we don’t all agree, and we don’t always want to see it especially in the mountains, there are days when we roll with it. This is the structure at Dawson Saddle, the highest point of the Angeles Crest Highway that stretches from La Canada to Wrightwood. Graffiti had recently been cleaned (and to be hones it was ugly anyways) but the latest taggers sprayed a little love. I wanted to take the opportunity to enjoy the hearts and just relish in what it’s like to live in LA and the surrounding mountains. We are all a part of the same fabric of the Universe with our unique ideas and we all share one thing in common: The need to be seen, to be heard and to be loved. Share the love today, say “I see you”, “I hear you”, “I love you” to someone today. Say it to yourself every time you see another person. Say it out loud. Say it to yourself! Now go ride your bike!
